Astralis drop Team Liquid to BLAST Premier Fall Showdown

The Danes are at their best once again.

The consolidation match to start the day.

Team Liquid, fresh off their emphatic win over Evil Geniuses on Friday, looked to book themselves a spot at the BLAST Premier Fall Finals, as they went against Astralis, who lost to Team Vitality in a close game in the upper bracket final.

A strong start from the North American team on Vertigo guaranteed them a massive lead at the half, as Team Liquid were “11-4” up before switching to the defence and despite Astralis’s offence reducing the deficit in the beginning of the second half, TL closed the map with a “16-9” scoreline. Moving to Nuke, the Danes posted a second “11-4” in a row on the map on the offence, but this time, unlike their meeting against Team Vitality, managed to do enough on the defence, equalizing the score with a “16-11”. Team Liquid, however, looked in control on Dust2, as they got a five round lead at the break and then found a pistol round, but a back and forth battle ended up with Astralis winning the economy game and running away with the match, “16-13”, “2-1”.

Astralis have now guaranteed themselves a spot at the BLAST Premier Fall Finals which will take place in Copenhagen, while Team Liquid are going to have to play in the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown if they want to make it to Denmark at the end of November.
