BIG drop G2 to Fall Showdown, advance to the BLAST Premier Fall Finals

A great performance by the German organization.

The upset of the group.

Last day of the BLAST Premier Fall group B started with a match between G2 Esports and BIG, as both teams seeked to advance to the Fall Finals without having to go through the entire Fall Showdown in few weeks time.

Starting on Dust2, teams traded rounds back and forth, but in the end it was a German team, which switched to their defence with a three round lead. The European mix nearly found a way back, but up “12-11”, BIG’s offence found an anti-eco victory, which pushed them towards the finish line, “16-12”. Moving to Inferno, G2 Esports looked in complete control, as they led “10-3”, but BIG never tapped out and managed to equalize the score. Still, G2 Esports got five match points only to see them disappear, as BIG forced an overtime and then secured a “19-17” map win, taking the entire series, “2-0”.

Now G2 Esports will have to prepare for the IEM Fall and BLAST Premier Fall Showdown, as they have suffered a second early exit in a row, few weeks after their collapse at the ESL Pro League Season 14, while BIG are going to face off against Ninjas in Pyjamas for the second time in three days for the chance to finish first in the group.
