Cloud9 breaks G2's winning streak
G2 suffered their first defeat since mid-December 2022. For over two months, the team managed to win 16 matches in a row, 13 of which were on LAN events.
The winning streak ended for G2 in the upper bracket semifinals of Group A at EPL Season 17, where the team lost to Cloud9.
Factors that influenced Cloud9's success
Perhaps the main reason for G2's defeat was the form in which Cloud9's sniper Dmitry sh1ro Sokolov approached the match. The score of duels against all G2 players was in his favor. It was toughest for HooXi and NiKo to face him. Conversely, Kovacs struggled to win duels against all members of the Cloud9 lineup except for buster. The Bosnian player also played 30% worse than his usual form.
When is G2's next match?
The European club will try to start a new winning streak tomorrow, on February 24 at 17:00 in the lower bracket of group A at EPL S17. Their opponent will be MIBR, who have already eliminated the Mongolian team IHC from the tournament.
