EG win over EXTREMUM, to PGL Major Stockholm 2021

Last regional team to join the party.

The most important match in the playoffs.

While not fighting for the IEM Fall North America crown, both EXTREMUM and Evil Geniuses had to play an extra match to decide the last regional team to participate at PGL Major Stockholm 2021.

Starting on the Australian team’s pick of Nuke, Evil Geniuses locked down the sites, picking up a seven round lead at the break and then converting it into a map win with a solid effort on their offence, “16-6”. EG looked prime to sweep the set on their own choice of Mirage, as they led “9-6” at halftime, but EXTREMUM pushed the pace on the offense, picking apart EG’s defence for a “16-13” comeback to force Inferno. A back and forth affair in the first half allowed Evil Geniuses to obtain a narrow lead at the break and then post up a stellar second half, winning the final map, “16-7” and the series, “2-1”, qualifying for PGL Major Stockholm 2021.

With Evil Geniuses joining Team Liquid, GODSENT, FURIA Esports and paiN Gaming, the list of North American representatives at the Swedish event is now set as they will try and return the crown to the region for the first time since 2019.
