ESL Challenger Valencia 2022 Preview

The winner is pretty straightforward, isn't it?

Valencia will host the ESL Challenger, which is a qualifying tournament for the EPL Conference Season 17 on July 1 - 3. The champion will also get a money prize of $50,000 in addition to the only slot in the EPL.

Let's analyze the situation in the group stage.

Two groups, four teams each, will be created. Opening matches are played in BO1 format. All other games are BO3.

Furia is very likely to take first place in their group

Group A:

  • FURIA
  • Outsiders
  • 00Nation
  • Sprout

When YEKINDAR had left, the Outsiders began to suffer a hard time. The updated roster had great difficulties with forZe and lost to FURIA at the Roobet Cup, so losing to 00Nation in BO1 will not be something extraordinary. Only Sprout looks like an obvious outsider in this group due to lousy gameplay against teams like SKADE and FTW.

Movistar Riders look like clear favorites in Group B

Group B:

  • MIBR
  • Movistar Riders
  • HUMMER Esports
  • Rare Atom

The group leader most definitely will be the Spaniards from Movistar Riders, as it's a team with more competitive experience in the European region than the rest of the group. The Brazilians from HUMMER, who played at the EPL Conference S16, also have some experience. This can help to get the best results for MIBR in the event of their likely meeting in the decider match. As for Rare Atom, it will be a miracle if this Chinese club manages to win at least one map because there is not even a sign of any domination in the home region.

The tournament's first match, MIBR - Rare Atom, starts at 11:30 AM. Follow its progress and see the statistics here.
