Fan Made a Full-fledged Rogue-lite Mode Inside CS:GO

A fan implemented a full-fledged Rogue-lite mode in CS:GO.

A developer named OrelStealth has published a large diary of developing a Rogue-lite map for CS:GO. Early access to the map is already available in the Steam Workshop, and every player can try it out. You can download it here.

What is the idea of the map?

OrelStealth is the first map developer who could fully curb the random generation of objects in CS:GO and began to use it in their work. First, the developer created an aim map with a random generation of objects, then plunged into the development of a full-fledged mode.

Two days ago, the developer released the map in early access. The first act is ready with a random generation of levels, objects, and enemies. In addition, Orel added full leveling and character selection and created unique enemies specifically for his mode.

The first act can be fully completed, meet two bosses, and also achieve global progress because the map has a saved system. For those who need to learn the Rogue-lite genre, its basic game cycle looks like this: the player gets to a randomly generated location, gradually passes it, meets various opponents, and gets upgrades. At some point, they die, after which the passage begins again, and the progress is reset, but part of the global leveling remains.

The main problem with the map and mode

The main problem with the map and mode is the announcement of Counter-Strike 2. Valve announced a global update of CS:GO, which will transfer the game to a new engine. This is great news for the community as a whole but terrible for those who will love the Rogue-lite map and its developer. After all, with the update, it will stop working due to the engine change.

However, if the map receives enough attention, then there is a high probability that the creator will continue to work on the project and adapt it for CS2. You can try the map here.
