IEM Katowice 2023 Day 2 Recap: No Luck for BiG, FaZe, Complexity, and Outsiders

The second day of the group stage of IEM Katowice 2023 came to an end, and if Spirit pleased their fans, Outsiders became a disappointment. Why? Keep reading to know more.

BIG vs. Spirit

At first, the teams exchanged victories on the maps chosen by the enemy: 16:10 Mirage in favor of BIG, 16:11 Mirage for Spirit. Still, on the decisive Anubis, the defense from BIG turned out to be a complete failure: 3:12. And no matter how the German club wanted to make a comeback, Spirit won the third map 16:10, and the sniper w0nderful became the MVP by a large margin: 69 kills, 39 deaths, and a 7.2 rating.

G2 vs. FaZe Clan

A very close Nuke, on which FaZe lost the first half 6:9 and came out on top 14:13, and then gave away three rounds in a row. The situation could significantly affect the morale during the Ancient map they chose. Karrigan's lost duels also didn't contribute to success. As a result, we have 16:7 in favor of G2, which allowed them to go to the quarterfinals of IEM Katowice 2023.

Heroic vs. Complexity

Heroic almost shutout Complexity: they easily closed Inferno with a score of 16:10, nearly came back from 6:14 on Vertigo, and lost at the end 13:16. However, the Danes were able to exhaust their opponents so much that they easily won the decisive Overpass 16:8.

Fnatic vs. Outsiders

The Outsiders had many chances to win this series, but Fnatic prevailed thanks to their strong morale. At first, the European club didn't allow the Outsiders to make a full-fledged comeback from the score of 3:12 on Vertigo. Then they lost on Mirage 8:16 and won in overtime 19:16, on the decisive Overpass.

Jame's effort was not enough to win, but it was enough to be the match's best player: 67-40 and a 6.8 rating.

The next matches for FaZe, Complexity, and Outsiders

In the first round of the lower bracket, Complexity will play MOUZ at 1:30 p.m. Last year, only one match took place between them, and the "mice" won.

The opponents of the Outsiders will be NIP. Bo3 between them will also start at 1:30 p.m.

In the lower bracket quarterfinals, FaZe will go head-to-head with sensational IHC, who knock-outs Cloud9.
