FiReLEAGUE Launched an Academic League for South American Teams

The esports ecosystem of the region got a boost.

The Argentinian tournament operator FiReLEAGUE announced holding an academy league for clubs from South America, one of the stages of which will be held online and the second on LAN. Eight teams take part in the tournament.

Participating teams of FiReLEAGUE Academy 2023

  • 9z Academy
  • Doxa Academy
  • FURIA Academy
  • Mad Kings Academy
  • Meta Academy
  • MIBR Academy
  • PaiN Academy
  • Sharks Youngsters

The prize pool of the online stage is $5,000, and the LAN grand final in Buenos Aires is $15,000.

Pros of the project

Despite a more modest prize fund, South American clubs with academies got the opportunity to compete against their peers in a natural tournament environment, and not just in the practices. Only some organizations can financially afford a European bootcamp to participate in the league from WePlay. As a result, only two South American clubs played at WAL: MIBR Academy and FURIA Academy.

Let us remind you that on February 20, WePlay, in a comment for Cover.gg, denied rumors about the closure of the academic league.
