BIG Academy come back against fnatic Rising, to WePlay AL S2 LAN final

A pair of comeback to cap the play-in stage.

The final match of the play-in stage.

fnaitc Rising and BIG Academy have already faced each twice during WePlay Academy League Season 2, including a match in the last chance bracket, where the German team managed to win “2-1”, but this time it was the final opportunity to get a spot in Kyiv at the LAN final.

Starting on Ancient, fnatic Rising accumulated a monstrous “11-4” after their offense and despite a late rally by BIG Academy, closed it out on the defence, “16-11”. Switching to Vertigo, the European mix once again looked in control, as they led “9-6” at the break and extended the lead to “14-7” shortly after. That was when the wheels fell off, as BIG Academy not only forced an overtime, but then a deciding map as well, winning it “22-20”. Overpass, however, started well for fnatic Rising, who led “8-1” in the beginning, but the German team managed to reduce the deficit to three rounds before the break. Trading rounds back and forth allowed fnatic Rising to get a “14-8” lead, but then the story did repeat itself, as BIG Academy won eight rounds in a row to take the map, “16-14” and the entire series, “2-1”.

With fnatic Rising eliminated, BIG Academy will join the likes of mouz NXT, Young Ninjas and NAVI Junior in Kyiv, advancing to their second straight WePlay Academy League LAN final.
