Since the Beginning of 2023, Complexity Has Made 99 Flights: This Is One of the Main Problems in North America

Complexity spends a lot of time traveling.

The Complexity team has already made 99 flights in 2023. The team spent more than 19 days on the road.

Complexity's manager Graham Pitt talked about how much time the team spends on the road and surprised most fans with the number of flights the team takes.

To date, the Complexity CS crew has completed 99 flights in 2023. Three hundred eighty-four hours in flight with an average flight time of 3 hours and 50 minutes. Fifty-three transfers for 114 hours of waiting at airports. Four hundred sixty-four hours on the way (more than 19 days), not including the journey to/from the airport and the time before the first flight.

Complexity spends a huge amount of resources on travel

99 flights in 72 days is an imposing number, and it is unlikely that even a single European team came close to these numbers. At the same time, the season did not start 72 days ago but about 50 days, which makes the situation even worse. This requires a huge amount of resources.

Speaking of resources, we do not mean money. Complexity is a sufficiently large and rich organization that can afford such a large number of plane tickets, considering that tournament operators pay some. It's more about time. While Complexity are on the road and spending time on adaptation, the European teams are engaged in training in the world's most competitive region.

And even under such conditions, Complexity looks okay at tier-1 tournaments. For example, at the IEM Katowice 2023, the team took 7th-8th place. However, this still affects the play level, making it difficult for the team to compete with the European region. And this problem concerns not only Complexity.

Long flights are one of the main problems in North America

After the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, CS:GO tournaments did not return to North America for a very long time. They began to be held in this region recently. And this hits hard in American teams. America is one of many vital regions, making it difficult for teams to prepare for major international tournaments. Most of the events are held in Europe, so the road takes a huge amount of time.

As a result, the American teams lose in everything - both in quality of training and in quantity.

Europeans do not want to join the American team

Another problem arises from such a large number of flights - Europeans do not rush to join American teams, and because of this, the region develops much more slowly than it could. Yes, there are exceptions like Hallzerk and YEKINDAR, but they are few. For example, Hallzerk has to make several transfers to get from Norway to the team's base in Mexico. Therefore, players from Europe very rarely move to America.

To solve this problem, tournament operators should start improving the ecosystem in America and hold more events in this region. And they are gradually engaged in it. As a result, more and more tournaments are appearing in the Western Hemisphere and online leagues, where places at major events are being played for.

We look forward to the further development of the American scene in the future.
