The FURIA Esports Coach Was Unbanned From Participating In CS:GO Majors

The Valve company reconsidered its decision and removed the ban from the coach of FURIA Esports, Nicolas Guerri Nogueira. He shared the information on the English-language broadcast of ESL Pro League Season 17.

In addition to guerri, two coaches were also unbanned: Alessandro Apoka Marcucci and Anton ToH1o Georgiev. They told about this in their social networks.

Why did the trainers get banned by Valve?

In October 2020, a bug was discovered in CS:GO with the coaches' camera, which allowed them to watch the game from the outside and transmit valuable information to their team. This was possible thanks to a violation of the rules and an unexpected error in the game engine, which allowed coaches to see the game process in real time while their teams rested during the break.

ESIC launched an investigation and eventually found several teams and coaches used the bug for months in 2019 and 2020. In November 2020, ESIC published their report, describing all the information they collected during the investigation and the punishment for participants who used this bug.

ESIC banned all coaches who used the bug and players who knowingly broke the rules using information received from their coaches. The terms of the bans were different, but most participants were banned for several months. In addition, they were disqualified from participating in tournaments organized under the aegis of ESIC. Valve also issued bans to mentors and players for using the game's bug.

Why were they banned?

FURIA appealed to ESIC in 2022, and the guerri ban was removed. It was proven that Nogueira did not use the coach's camera bug. His mistake was that he needed to disconnect from the game immediately. Despite the change in ESIC's decision, Valve did not reduce the ban on CS:GO Majors. The developers revised their decision only at the beginning of 2023.

Valve did not specify why Apoka and ToH1o were banned and did not comment on the situation. However, mentors will be able to take part in the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023, which will be held from May 8 to 21 in Paris.

What did guerri do while he was in ban?

During this time, Guerri continued to work with FURIA as a trainer. Under his leadership, the team made significant progress and became one of the world's best CS:GO teams.
