G2 Esports and FaZe Clan will compete at IEM Cologne 2023

ESL has confirmed the participation of the first two teams, G2 Esports and FaZe Clan.

The two invited teams earned their spots in the tournament by winning big championships from ESL - G2 won at IEM Katowice 2023, while FaZe took first place at the recent EPL S17.

One slot each will also be given to the champions of IEM Rio, IEM Dallas, and BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023. Other teams will qualify for the tournament by achieving high rankings in the ESL rating. Four more spots are reserved for the winners of ESL Meisterschaft: Spring 2023 and other yet-to-be-announced events.

Intel Extreme Masters Cologne 2023 will take place from July 25 to August 6. 24 teams will compete for a prize pool of $1 million. This championship holds particular importance as it will be one of the last major competitions for CS:GO, as the release of Counter-Strike 2 is expected in the summer. It is likely that in the late autumn, major tournament operators will switch to the new version of the shooter from Valve.
