Heroic eliminate Astralis at EPL S14

Not the most exciting derby.

Before the fifth round, Heroic had already guaranteed themselves a spot in the quarterfinals by winning group A, while Astralis had to beat their local rivals and hope for the Bad News Bears’ upset victory against ENCE Esports in the other game.

Heroic did not allow Astralis to do much in the first half of Inferno, as they switched to their offence with a five round lead and then instantly countered in the second round of the half, taking control of economy to win the map, “16-8”. Moving to Vertigo, Astralis’s defence started strong with a “4-1” lead, but once Heroic got going, there was no stop, as second “16-8” in a row sealed the deal for the group.

The reigning ESL Pro League champions will start defending their title in the quarterfinals, while Astralis, who won a couple of iterations of EPL in the past, will now prepare for BLAST Premier Fall and IEM Fall to guarantee themselves a return to the PGL Major Stockholm 2021.
