Imperial Esports was sentenced for the player’s death and is obliged to pay compensation of $65 000

The court of the city of São Paulo decided on a labor dispute related to the tragic death of Mateus brutt Queiroz, former Imperial Esports player. The judges found the organization guilty of breaching contractual obligations and neglecting the player's health, who died in 2019 shortly after joining the team. The club's attempt to challenge the court's decision was unsuccessful.

Mateus brutt Queiroz joined Imperial Esports in November 2019 and, only a month later, died of complications from an infection that affected his central nervous system. Subsequently, the family of the deceased player filed a lawsuit against Imperial Esports and his previous team, Team Reapers, accusing both clubs of neglecting the athlete's health and violating labor laws and the terms of the contract.

The court decision established that Imperial Esports needed to provide proper working conditions for its players, neglecting their health, ignoring their complaints, and not providing the necessary assistance, despite contractual obligations. As a result, the organization must pay moral compensation of $65 000 to the family of the deceased player. (₽5.1 million).

Based on the arguments, the judges concluded that Imperial did not fulfill its contractual obligations and made mistakes during the employment relationship. The organization is responsible for brut's deteriorating health and his hospital visits without the team's participation, which is a legal obligation. Imperial is also responsible for indirect moral damage caused to the player's relatives.

At the moment, information about the progress of the case against Team Reapers, where Mateus brutt Queiroz played before moving to Imperial Esports, is still being determined. It is expected that the results of this trial will be announced shortly.

In a statement signed by the lawyer Helio Tadeu Bronha Coelho Zwicker, the family of Mateus brutt Queiroz expressed their position as follows: In its symbolic and sound decision, the court confirmed the constant disregard of the Imperial club for the life and health of Mateus (Brutt). Now the organization must compensate for the damage caused to our family. At this moment, we feel relieved that justice has been achieved.

It is important to note that the Imperial Esports lineup in 2019, in addition to Mateus brutt Queiroz, also included players Igor rzt De Souza, Denis dzt Filho, Rafael cogu Kamin, and Mike mch De Luca. During that period, the team actively participated in various CS:GO tournaments, including significant competitions such as ESL Pro League Season 9 and StarSeries & i-League CS:GO Season 7.
