Entropiq, VP advance to the next stage in Stockholm

Two more teams move on to the next stage.

With PGL Major Stockholm 2021 entering the third day, two squads have already been eliminated from the tournament, while two have advanced to the second stage. With Round 4 in full force, two more units could make it out of the first stage with a win.

Entropiq surprised many with their Ancient pick, but the CIS team managed to get seven rounds on their offence, more than enough to feel confident before the switch. Heroic, however, did not want to extend the series for much longer, as they ran over the Entropiq’s defence for a “16-10” map victory. The Danes led big on Nuke as well, before the CIS team could reduce the deficit to one at the half and then retake the lead. Back and forth after “13-10”, it looked like Heroic would get to overtime, but Entropiq snatched the “16-14” victory and forced the decider. Mirage, however, did not end up being any competitive, as Entropiq never allowed Heroic to set up their defences and picked them apart for the “11-4” halftime score before shutting their offence out, “16-4”, “2-1” and the spot in the next round.

Virtus.pro, expectedly, chose Inferno and despite Team Spirit’s best efforts, shut their offence out on the defence for a “16-7” win before leading “8-1” and “10-5” on Ancient at the break. That was when Team Spirit woke up and put up a show in the second half of their own map pick, coming back in style to win it “16-12” before switching to Overpass. Back and forth in the first half, it was Spirit leading “8-7” at the half and extending the lead to “14-7”, before VP started their comeback. Team Spirit still reached the match point first at “15-14”, but VP won five rounds straight to take the map, “19-15”, the series, “2-1” and the slot in the next stage of the Major.

With Entropiq and Virtus.pro joining FaZe Clan and Copenhagen Flames in the next round, it remains to be seen who will be the other four teams in the “Legends” stage in Sweden.
