VP, NAVI add more wins to the CIS bucket in Stockholm

The opening day of the second round.

With four games already finished in the second stage of PGL Major Stockholm 2021, it was the time to watch one more pair of the mouthwatering clashes.

Team Vitality, surprisingly, opted into the Inferno pick instead of an Overpass and promptly fell behind Virtus.pro in the first half of their match. VP had a “9-4” lead and despite switching with only a three round gap, reached match points at “15-7”. That was when the French team started to come back into the set, winning seven rounds in a row, but the CIS team still managed to survive in the end of regulation to take the set, “16-14” and improve to “1-0” in the second stage of the Swiss system.

Heroic and Natus Vincere ended up playing Ancient for the first time in the tournament in a best of one set, as the number one team in the world switched to their offence with a one round lead. The Danes still looked to get back into the game, as they retook the lead, but the defence’s economy was shattered in the 24th round with Natus Vincere running away with the “16-11” win.

With only two maps left to be played in the first round, the second stage is already delivering in spades in Sweden.
