WePlay Will Stop Hosting Academy League Tournaments

Ukrainian tournament operator, WePlay intends to change the company's activities. The Metaratings portal shared information about this with a link to its sources familiar with the situation.

Representatives of the site say that the company will stop organizing the Academy League series. What other changes are expected by WePlay is not specified. We contacted the company for comment but didn't receive a response.

The last WePlay championship was held online from October 12 to November 20. Fourteen clubs' academies drew a prize fund of $100,000. Young Ninjas won the championship trophy, beating Team Spirit Academy in the final with a score of 2:1. The results of the tournament can be found here.

On January 9, WePlay retained the rights to host a Russian-language broadcast of BLAST in Russian and Ukrainian. Later it became known that the Serbian tournament operator Relog Media owned the rights. You can read more about here.
