Movistar Riders vs Cloud9: Does Spaniards' Black Streak Never Ends?
The third round of group D at ESL Pro League Season 16 will start with a confrontation between Cloud9 and Movistar Riders, but will we see some kind of struggle from them?
It is becoming increasingly clear that the success of Movistar Riders before the lineup changes was mainly due to SunPayus. The new sniper MartinezSa, although still consistently the best player in the team, has seemed to evaporate as the team chemistry has evaporated - since the replacement, the roster has faced a losing streak of 6 matches. And one could understand if the Spaniards lost from the start of the tier-1 teams because sometimes it takes time to play. But will this time bear fruit when you can't beat B8, SC and ECLOT?
In terms of individual performance, Cloud9 looks a cut above. Behind their advantage is also the experience of playing at prestigious championships and having some of the best players in the world on the roster.
Map preferences don't bode well for Movistar Riders either, but there's a good chance of getting the upper hand on at least one map - and that will be Inferno. It is the weakest of Cloud9, and judging by the match with Liquid, the Spaniards trained it well.
Can Movistar Riders win? So far, I can't believe it, but they can "soak" the score in the series. Detailed pre-match statistics can be found here.
