The teams to take part in the first Major of the season have been unveiled.

PGL Major Antwerp 2022 Europe RMR B has come to a close and rounded up the RMR cycle. All spots have been distributed, and it is time to review the results.

The first RMR event to end was the Americas RMR. There were six spots available: 1 Legends and 5 Challengers slots. FURIA predictably qualified for the Legends stage as the best team from the American region. They defeated MIBR in the tiebreaker. Other squads got their spots in the Challengers stage, and these teams are MIBR, Imperial, Complexity, Liquid, and 9z. 9z managed to surprise the viewers by defeating Evil Geniuses and paiN in the tiebreaker for the last spot at PGL Major Antwerp 2022. The biggest upsets of the first RMR event are Evil Geniuses and 00NATION. Both teams were expected to get the spot but didn’t manage to show their best performance.

The second RMR event was PGL Major Antwerp 2022 Asia RMR. Four teams were competing for the spots, and only two of them qualified for the Challengers stage. IHC destroyed every opponent and easily reached the Major without losing a single map. It will be curious to observe them at the international event. Renegades qualified as the runner-up, eliminating TYLOO. The Chinese team had been representing the Asian region at every Major since Faceit Major 2018 and will miss PGL Major Antwerp 2022, interrupting the streak.

PGL Major Antwerp 2022 Europe RMR A brought unexpected results. The unforgiving format didn’t allow some decent teams to attend the Major. Heroic, BIG, FaZe, and NaVi made it to the Legends. NaVi had the most difficult journey to the main stage due to the tiebreak for the spot they took part in. At the same time, forZe, Eternal Fire, Vitality, and Outsiders reached the Challengers stage. ForZe and Eternal Fire stand out from this list as the teams not expected to take the spot at the Major. ForZe even finished the event one step away from the Legends stage, losing to NaVi in the tiebreaker. However, there are also upsetting surprises. OG and MOUZ didn’t manage to qualify. MOUZ were expected to have difficulties, while OG showed decent performance throughout the beginning of the year but didn’t manage to win three matches at the RMR event.

The second European RMR continued the trend. Copenhagen Flames, Cloud9 (ex-Players), and NIP qualified for the Legends stage. CPH Flames surprised their fans with outstanding performance without losing a single match at the tournament. G2, Astralis, Bad News Eagles, ENCE, and Spirit took the spots in the Challengers stage. G2 didn’t manage to qualify for the Legends stage, while Bad News Eagles made history as the first team from Kosovo to take part in the Major. The biggest upset of the second European RMR is Entropiq. The CIS team collapsed and managed to win only one match. The expectations were enormous as the squad nearly made it to the playoff at PGL Major Stockholm 2021.

The Challengers stage of PGL Major Antwerp 2022 is set to start and begins on May 9th.
