Team Liquid, MAD Lions to semifinals at BLAST Premier Fall Showdown

An exciting set of games.

Second day of the quarterfinals.

With Heroic and OG already advancing to the final four yesterday, it was time to find out two more teams, which were going to clash for the spot at the BLAST Premier Fall Finals 2021.

Team Liquid looked to snatch Inferno away from Virtus.pro, who picked it, as the North American team led “14-5” in the second half, but the CIS team nearly managed to force the overtime with their defence. Only in the last round of regulation Team Liquid finally broke through and clinched the map, “16-14”, before moving to their own pick of Vertigo. There, however, VP managed to equalize the set with winning both halves and the entire map, “16-9”, forcing a decider map on Overpass. Team Liquid looked untouchable, as they led “8-1”, but VP responded with nine rounds in a row to take a lead. The North American team, however, was not deterred by that, as they closed the map with another “8-1” run, taking it “16-12” and the entire series, “2-1”. G2 Esports started strong against MAD Lions on the latter’s pick of Ancient, trouncing the opponents, “16-4”, but then could not close the set on Mirage, as MAD Lions forced a decider after a successful series in the overtime, “19-16”. The favourites looked to win Inferno, as they led “10-5” at the half, but MAD Lions once again managed to force the overtime and win there, this time, “19-17”, taking the series “2-1” and making it one step closer to the LAN in Copenhagen, Denmark.

With only four teams left in the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown, only two are going to advance further.
