Faceit's Second-Best Player Was Unbanned On ESEA: He Will Join the Team Soon

The player was in the ban for more than five years.

Faceit's second-best player Paul day0s Niel said he is about to join a professional team.

Faceit streamer and player day0s, who got 6500 elo, said that he was unbanned on ESEA 2-3 weeks ago, and he is about to join the professional team. He talked about it on his stream.

I was banned on ESEA. I was unbanned only 2-3 weeks ago, I don't cheat now. I will join the team very soon, but I can't say anything about it yet.

Who Is Day0s, And Why Was He Banned?

Day0s was an up-and-coming player in 2018 until Faceit staff discovered his banned accounts and kicked him out of FPL. Then he spoke in more detail about how he cheated in 2014.

Player day0s was disqualified from FPL less than 24 hours after qualifying, as we found a clear link between his account and the VAC-banned account.

Then day0s only played matchmaking and didn't even think about a career in CS:GO. At the same time, as found out on Faceit, the French player played with cheats on several accounts, which was also confirmed by day0s. Faceit did not deny the player's story, but they did not unban him.

In addition, he was banned on ESEA, which blocked his path to professional CS:GO. However, both bans were temporary and operated at different times. Day0s continued to play despite the reputation.

In 2020, Faceit banned day0s, and he returned to the platform, where he began to show impressive results. His elo started to snowball, and now the French player is the second-best on Faceit, and his elo is already equal to 6468. He is behind only Ilya M0NESY Osipov with 6506 elo.

More recently, day0s reported that ESEA unbanned him. So probably, very soon he will play on the pro stage.

Is it Worth Giving a Second Chance To a Cheater?

This story once again raised the eternal question: does the cheater have the right to a second chance? Previously, Valve's rules on this matter were incredibly cruel: cheaters received a permanent ban for performances on the pro stage, namely Majors, the main tournament of the year.

However, in 2021, the company changed its policy of bans for cheating. Now such blocks last five years from the previous confirmed episode of foul play. According to these rules, day0s has the full right to participate in all CS:GO tournaments.

However, is it ethical? In the case of day0s, it is possible to answer unequivocally: yes. The French player has never used cheats in professional matches, and the last time he played with cheats was when he was 15 years old. Therefore, his behavior is a mistake he made as a child.

In such situations, it is worth recalling the story of Olexander s1mple Kostyliev, who also managed to play with cheats as a child. As a result, he was banned from all ESL tournaments. However, after removing the ban, we got the best player in the world. Therefore, it is necessary to forgive the dishonest game in childhood. Otherwise, the scene will lose up-and-coming players.

Does Day0s Have a Chance On the Pro Scene?

The main problem of day0s right now is his age: the Frenchman is already 23 years old. This is an old age to start a career, considering that he has absolutely no experience on the pro scene because he spent his most promising period in banns. He recently played only in semi-amateur tournaments, with an average rating of 6.5.

However, he will still be able to show his skill, but he has very little time for this. In the first year, day0s must show an incredible level of play to get into the tier-1 team. Otherwise, he will remain at the tier-2 tier-3 level until the end of his career.

Day0s will have little chance of success in the pro scene, but he can still make it to the top tier if his game skills match his elo on Faceit.

When Will We Know the Name of Day0s's Team?

Taking into account the fact that, most likely, the French player will be signed to the tier-2 or tier-3 team, the announcement should be expected by January 14. On this date, the tier-2 events will begin.
