How to Unlearn Profession in WoW

How to Unlearn Profession in WoW

In World of Warcraft, several primary and secondary professions are useful for players of certain classes, which will help them create weapons, equipment, potions, and other items not only for themselves but also for sale to others, which will help them raise the amount of gold. However, it happens that players have learned the wrong profession, either by accident or out of ignorance. Or they just want to try something new to spice up their gameplay. And to change your profession, you need to "forget" the previous one since the number of professions you can have at the same time is limited.

How to learn a profession in World of Warcraft

No matter what version of World of Warcraft you play: Classic, Dragonflight, or another expansion, the algorithm of actions to learn a profession will be the same.

Reasons to change your profession in World of Warcraft

From time to time, players change their professions for several reasons. First of all, they may not like doing the occupation they have chosen. Therefore, it is obvious that someone will want to change their profession and try something new and more interesting for themselves.

The second reason is that the profession is not needed. This is often the case for new players who do not fully understand all the mechanics of the game and how everything interacts. Undoubtedly, all professions are important and interesting in their way, but we shouldn't dismiss the fact that each class has a greater need for a certain profession than another. For example, mages are well suited to sewing and tanning or mining and engineering. In the first case, the mage will be able to provide himself with the appropriate equipment for his class and create bags. The second combination will allow you to get consumables for crowd control. Druids are suited to herbalism and alchemy, which will provide them with the ability to create potions for their class.

Experienced players use professions not only to provide themselves with something they need but also to sell them to other players, which allows them to earn more gold. Professionals who have been playing World of Warcraft for a long time keep an eye on updates and the situation in the in-game market. Therefore, they can change their profession to one that proves to be more profitable.

In the Dragonflight expansion, a game currency called Artisan's Metal was introduced, which players can get through professions when they gain knowledge points. After dropping the previous profession, players choose a new one, completing various tasks and activities to farm more Artisan's Metal.

Will you lose your profession progress?

If a player decides to unlearn a profession, they automatically lose all progress in that profession. This means that all your learned recipes, and skill points will be lost, and the profession level will be 1 again. Therefore, the best option would be to create other characters on your account and level up separate professions for them, and all the items you want to send to the main character can be sent to him or her via game mail or put into a shared bank.

But remember that certain items, such as collectables and toys, that you have obtained in the course of your profession are stored on your account and continue to be available to all other characters on it. However, some items will still require you to have profession skills to use them.

Types of professions in World of Warcraft

Players are allowed to have two main professions at the same time. There are two types of professions available in World of Warcraft: crafting and gathering. The crafting professions include blacksmithing, engineering, alchemy, tailoring, leatherworking, and enchantment. Crafting is based on collecting various items in their raw form, which can be used to process and create new items: potions, equipment, and enchanted items. Created items can be used for your own game or sold to other players.

The second type of profession is gathering, which includes: herbalism, mining, and leatherworking. Players have the opportunity to collect various resources such as herbs, different rocks, and leather. The items can also be used for sale, including to in-game NPCs or auction houses. Usually, these two types of professions are interconnected, as you can use sedimentary rock samples in blacksmithing and herbs in alchemy.

There is also a secondary type of profession. Unlike the main professions, players can learn all three secondary professions in World of Warcraft Classic. They include fishing, cooking, and first aid. It is impossible to forget secondary professions in WoW and there is no need to do so.

The best professions for classes in World of Warcraft Hardcore

As we've already mentioned, every player can learn any profession, but some of them are better for a particular class. In World of Warcraft Classic Hardcore, the skills of professions play the biggest role, as they make life much easier and make you more resilient in dangerous situations.

For warriors, mining and engineering or herbalism and alchemy are well suited. They will help to provide the hero with gadgets and bombs that will be useful in battle, and potions from alchemy will provide additional defence effects. It is worth noting the ability to equip yourself with a Target Dummy, which distracts the attention of the mobs you are fighting. And of course, what a warrior is without good armour, which is why blacksmithing and mining will be a priority for you.

A hunter can also learn the same professions, which will improve his performance in ranged combat, as well as provide grenades and bombs that deal AoE damage, which is what a hunter lacks.

Shamans will benefit from leather processing, which allows them to create the necessary equipment from this material.

Paladins primarily need engineering and mining to create auxiliary gadgets and Target Dummy, which, combined with some abilities, can make this class almost immortal.

Rogues need herbalism and alchemy to create Thistle Tea and Blinding Powder, which work well in synergy with their stealth and backstabbing abilities. And engineering will allow you to create a Target Dummy to facilitate combat with a large number of mobs.

Sorcerers need to create health and support potions, so alchemy skills will come in handy. Engineering items will provide stun abilities and additional damage. Weaving and enchantment are also good, allowing you to create good magical equipment.

Mages and priests can use tailoring to create good equipment, and if possible, enchant it with good buffs that will help them in the game.

For a druid, the most rational choice would be a combination of herbalism, and if your class is a Tauren, you will receive an additional +15 points for this profession, thanks to the racial buff.
