EWC Scholarship Program: Saudi Arabia's investment in esports

The Esports World Cup, supported by Saudi Arabia, is launching a new scholarship program for club organizations, promising six-figure payouts to participants. This move is part of Saudi Arabia's "Vision 2030" initiative aimed at diversifying the country's economy and transforming Riyadh into a global esports hub.

The launch of the Esports World Cup Program was announced by organizers who intend to attract 28 teams, 22 of which will receive direct invitations, while six spots will be open for applications. The purpose of the scholarship is to support clubs and encourage their participation in the EWC.

Selected participants will be evaluated based on several criteria, including their history in esports, development strategy, and ability to form teams in various gaming disciplines. Organizations wishing to join must submit an application, providing information about their audience, achievements, and future goals.

Participation in the program does not guarantee automatic entry to the Esports World Cup, as all teams must qualify. This initiative comes amid Saudi Arabia's investments in esports and sports in general, which have drawn criticism for accusations of "sportswashing" and human rights violations in the country.
