Xyp9x Leaves Astralis, Closes Chapter on Illustrious Eight-Year Legacy

The long-standing association between Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth and Astralis has come to an end, marking the conclusion of a remarkable chapter in Counter-Strike history. Astralis announced this on its official Twitter page.Xyp9x, an integral part of Astralis since its founding, has seen his career flourish with the organization, claiming four Major victories and numerous prestigious LAN titles.

Xyp9x, often referred to as the "clutch minister" for his extraordinary ability to win late-round situations, has been central to Astralis' dominance in the CS:GO realm. Alongside his team victories, Xyp9x has also garnered personal recognition, including the IEM Katowice 2017 MVP award.

The decline of Astralis' reign began with the departure of Nicolai "device" Reedtz in 2021, which corresponded with a dip in Xyp9x's individual performance. Post-device era, Xyp9x struggled to find the same level of success, and despite reaching the semi-finals at IEM Cologne twice, he was eventually moved to Astralis' academy team in 2023, only to be benched later that year.
