Team Liquid's coach Damien daps Steele shared the information that at BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023, the role of IGL will be played by Marek YEKINDAR Galinskys. In an interview, he noted that this decision was made due to the peculiarities of the team's training process and is temporary.
Nick nitr0 Cannell missed the start of the Liquid bootcamp in Amsterdam, where the team was preparing for the major. Thus, during his absence, the team managed to change its style on some maps, and it was decided that YEKINDAR would play the role of IGL on them.
The fact is that nitr0 missed the first five or six days of our two-week bootcamp due to personal circumstances. During the training sessions on three maps, I took his place in the team - so the team could work even without one of the teammates. As a result, about a week later, we decided that YEKINDAR would coordinate the team's actions on these maps because he played more training matches - with him, we were preparing new features. Besides, YEKINDAR was already the second caller of the team, so I wouldn't say this is a significant change. But yes, in this tournament, YEKINDAR is our captain, and nitr0 is the second IGL.Damien daps Steele
Liquid’s prospects
Liquid began their performance on BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 with two defeats - Apeks and FORZE. Then the North American team pulled themself together and got two victories — over Fluxo and Complexity Gaming.
In the final round of the Challengers stage, the YEKINDAR’s team will face Grayhound Gaming. The winner of the meeting will advance to the Legends stage. The match will take place on May 11 at 20:30 EEST. You can study the pre-match statistics of the teams here.
