IEM Fall Europe Day 1 is complete

Eleven Major spots are on the line.

First day of a massive event is over.

Twenty four teams started their campaigns against various opponents, as only eleven teams are going to advance to the PGL Major Stockholm 2021 and represent the European region on its home soil.

G2 Esports started with a convincing win over AURA, while the reigning RMR event winners mousesports took out BIG on Mirage, “16-10”. FunPlus Phoenix, however, could not keep the favourites without a loss in group A, as Copenhagen Flames came back to win Vertigo, “16-12” to join G2 and mouz on top of the group. Astralis and Heroic did not have too many troubles putting away Endpoint and Movistar Riders in group B and while Complexity Gaming rallied from being down “5-12” on Nuke, Sinners Esports still clinched the win in regulation, “16-13”. Both Team Vitality and OG Esports started strong in group C, as MAD Lions and Sprout managed to win a combined nine rounds against the favourites. Joining them on top for now are ENCE Esports, who narrowly survived against Dignitas on Overpass, “16-14”.  Neither Ninjas in Pyjamas or FaZe Clan struggled against Fiend and Fnatic, respectively, while DBL PONEY managed a nearly impossible comeback in the end of Ancient against SKADE, as they rallied with key clutches to force an overtime and win it, “19-15”.

The group stage at IEM Fall Europe is going to continue tomorrow, as every game has to be treated as an elimination one to avoid various mistakes, upsets and pitfalls.
