Team Liquid reached an agreement to sign Rainwaker

Team Liquid agreed today to sign Bulgarian player Alex "Rainwaker" Petrov from 500, according to Dust2.us sources.

The changes will allow Liquid to create a European core team for the first time. They will also confirm Marek "YEKINDAR" Galinskis as the team's permanent game leader, as the Latvian himself confirmed on Twitter on Monday.

Rainwaker's addition made a big impression. For the Bulgarian shooter, staying with Team Liquid will be his first experience playing at the highest level and on an international team.

The 22-year-old last played for 500, a team that mostly competed in CCT tournaments and other mid-level tournaments and qualifiers. The Bulgarian team made a notable run at the BLAST.tv Paris Major Europe RMR, but could not overcome strong competition, finishing the tournament with a 1-3 result.

The Bulgarian player surpassed his predecessor nitr0 in almost every way. Except that nitr0's headshot percentage is 12% higher.

Also in the final stages of approval is the move of Robert "Patsi" Isyanov from Team Spirit to the American organization, which will finally fill the empty spots on the team. Isyanov and his new partner will take the places of Nick "nitr0" Cannella, who ended his competitive career in June, and Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski, the most experienced member of the team.

Although Liquid is sure to make some position changes, he is expected to take nitr0's place during the game, while the more aggressive Patsi will mostly take EliGE's position.

The anticipated lineup of the team will look as follows:

  • Keith "NAF" Markovich
  • Josh "oSee" Ohm
  • Marex "YEKINDAR" Galinskis
  • Alex "Rainwaker" Petrov
  • Robert "Patsi" Isyanov
  • Damian "daps" Steele (Coach)
