Team Wildcard leaves IEM Chengdu 2024

Team Wildcard leaves IEM Chengdu 2024

Team Wildcard's fairy tale at IEM Chengdu 2024 has come to an unexpected end. A small team, which received an invitation to the tournament at the last minute, was unable to defeat its opponents and dropped out of the competition. Their departure marks the end of a remarkable journey that has captured the imagination of Counter-Strike fans around the world.

Wildcard defied expectations throughout the tournament. First replacing a team that withdrew, they fought their way through qualifying with impressive teamwork and individual skill. They continued to impress in the group stage, defeating established teams to secure a place in the knockout stages.

While Wildcard's results were undoubtedly impressive, their lack of experience on the big stage was ultimately their undoing. The pressure of the playoffs proved too much and they were unable to match their more experienced opponents. Wildcard couldn't beat Cloud9 and lost 2-0.
