Disappointing Spirit and triumph of Monte - results of BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023: European RMR

The last match of both groups of the European RMR has ended, in which FaZe managed to snatch the last ticket to the BLAST.tv Paris Major from Cloud9. Now it's time to remind ourselves in which stages of the major each team ended up, and who couldn't make it to the championship at all.

Main surprises of RMR

The tournament was truly rich in storylines with underdogs, many of whom succeeded by defeating famous teams and earning a slot at the major. This is especially true for 9INE, who advanced to the "Legends" stage with a 3-0 score, defeating G2BIG, and Vitality. Into The Breach also made it to the Legends stage, becoming the first predominantly British team in the history of majors.

And how can we forget about Monte, who made it to the Challengers stage, surprising even their most loyal fans with victories over ENCE, Cloud9, and FORZE.

B8 was also very close to qualifying for the Boston major, having surpassed MOUZ and VP. Unfortunately, all the subsequent four matches, including the decider, did not go in their favor.

Disappointing teams

Many seemingly strong teams turned out to be not so impressive. Spirit unexpectedly played poorly and were eliminated from the RMR without a single victory. Astralis, Eternal Fire, and Virtus.pro were only slightly better with only one victory. VP, by the way, got involved in a scandal with a substitution in the middle of the tournament allegedly due to visa problems for Kair0N-. BLAST even banned discussing this topic in post-match interviews. It all ended up with absolute chaos within the team and a missed opportunity for IEM Rio, to which, as former CEO of HellRaisers reported, the roster simply refused to go.

BIG and Cloud9 became the worst of the best - these two tier-1 organizations could have qualified for the BLAST.tv Paris Major, but at the moment both have problems with their roster that ideally should be solved with replacements.

FaZe can also be included in the list of disappointing teams - the champions of EPL S17 and Intel Grand Slam had a hard time qualifying for the event. A careful preparation is needed before the major to avoid mistakes.
