The professional season in CS: GO is over, the players have gone on vacation, and now you can see the statistics and results of the teams in detail. Who had a disappointing reshuffle? Who showed an average game? Which team was the best?
Failed Reshuffle
The list of teams that disappointed the audience after making substitutions turned out to be especially large this season. It's worth starting with Vitality.
At the beginning of the year, the club signed Magisk, dupreeh, and zonic. This decision changed not only the structure of the team but also the language the players communicate. At the same time, not only the current Vitality players changed their language, but also the newly arrived members of the team because Astralis spoke in Danish. The team showed itself well at the first tournament of the year, namely the Blast Premier Spring Groups, but the Danish-French team had no more achievements this season. The only thing that stands out is the second place at the Blast Premier Spring Final in the final Vitality lost to Natus Vincere. The average Vitality rating for the season was 6.0.
Astralis can be considered the second failed roster. The Danes changed their roster last year when Magisk, dupreeh, and zonic left the team. This time Astralis managed to keep the Danish roster by signing k0nfig and blameF. However, it is unlikely that the problem lies with these players, blameF is generally the best player on the team in terms of statistics and is not going to give up this place. Instead, the problems have been dragging on since the departure of device at the beginning of 2021. After the departure of this player, Astralis never found a good sniper who could compete with other players from the tier-1 scene. First, the Danes tried Lucky, who did not cope with the role, now Farlig is on the roster, who is the worst team player according to statistics with a rating of 5.6, so perhaps we will again see replacements in the Danish team. Astralis' average rating for the season is 5.9. The season's best result at S-tier events was 3rd-4th place at IEM Cologne.
The biggest failure of the season was the new G2 roster. Before the start of the tournaments, this roster looked like the best in the world. A good captain in the person of Aleksib, as well as a strong young sniper m0NESY, should have been a powerful reinforcement. In addition to this, G2 signed a coach who was supposed to build a stable system for winning the championships. And at first, it was like that. G2 performed well at IEM Katowice and took second place, losing to FaZe Clan in the tournament final. However, after that, the team completely failed the season. The only worthy result was 3rd-4th place at the Blast Premier Spring Final. The team's average rating for the season was 6.1. Changes in the roster have already been announced - Aleksib announced the search for a new team.
Another team that suffered from the substitutions was Liquid. The American team had problems last season, which led to changes. However, these changes made it even worse. At the beginning of the season, the club completely changed its roster, signing three new players - nitr0, oSee, and shox. The results of the team immediately fell. Shox left the roster before the end of the season, after IEM Dallas. However, Liquid took YEKINDAR as a stand-in and immediately took 5-6th place at IEM Cologne, playing on stage for the first time this season. All team members are happy with the new player, and by signing the Latvian, Liquid will have a chance to return to the top. The American team's average rating for the season was 5.8.
Great Teams Of the Season
There were also teams that, unexpectedly for many, showed promising results this season.
The first such team was Spirit, with a new line-up. The team played two S-tier events and especially excelled at PGL Major Antwerp 2022. At this tournament, the CIS team took 3rd-4th place and showed an incredible level of play. Also, with the new line-up of Spirit, a new star appeared on the scene in the face of degster. Unfortunately, the player left the team for personal reasons and joined OG, which did not allow Spirit to show a high result at IEM Cologne due to a recent replacement. However, Spirit is still a top team and worth keeping an eye on. The team's average rating for the season was 6.1.
The second discovery was the ENCE team. The whole season the team was near the first places in the best tournaments. Among the best results: were second place at the ESL Pro League and second place at IEM Dallas. Last season, such effects were not even close, which surprised the fans. Like in Spirit, a star was born in ENCE - Spinx, who stands out from the rest of the team. I would like to say that there is more to come. However, recent rumors about Spinx leaving for Vitality say otherwise. Despite this, ENCE can remain at a decent level with a good replacement. The team's average rating was 6.
Strong Middle Teams
Cloud9 and Heroic remained exactly at the same level as last season. Both teams are not far from the best teams in the world, but sometimes they fail, which says a lot about their stability. Despite this, Cloud9 managed to win one S-tier event in the season - IEM Dallas. In the final, they defeated ENCE. It would be possible to record Cloud9 in the best teams, but the club is not stable enough for this title.
Heroic, however, was not satisfied with such results, and they decided to make a replacement before IEM Cologne. The team sent refrezh to the reserve and signed jabbi, but failed in the tournament, not winning a single match in the group stage of the tournament. We should expect the results of this replacement next season because so far, the squad simply did not have enough time to prepare.
The Best Teams Of the Season
This title is unconditionally deserved by two teams - FaZe and NaVi. Both teams have been at the top all season, and both teams have won tournaments this season.
The CIS team has always been in the top 4 of events, with the exception of the ESL Pro League, where NaVi took 5-8th place, and the team finished the last three S-tier tournaments in the top 2. NaVi also has one championship - at the Blast Premier Spring Final, which became one of the most stellar events on the list of teams. And given that NaVi had to make a sudden substitution, the results look incredible. NaVi's average rating was 6.4. However, there is a team that became a worthy opponent for Natus Vincere and had an even better season.
The championship at IEM Katowice, ESL Pro League, PGL Major Antwerp, and IEM Cologne are all the merits of FaZe Clan. The European team showed an incredible season because no one has ever managed to win a Major, IEM Cologne, and IEM Katowice in one year. FaZe was unbeatable and only missed two S-tier events in half a year. Will their era continue next season? We'll find out in a month.
