Top Five CS:GO Snipers of 2022

Top Five CS:GO Snipers of 2022

Cover.gg continues to summarize the results of 2022. This time we compiled a list of the top five snipers of the past year. Unexpectedly, even for us, Ilya M0NESY Osypov took first place.

When compiling the top, we relied on the indicators with a sniper rifle of esports athletes exclusively in tier-1 competitions:

  • The player's individual rating
  • The average number of kills
  • The average amount of damage per round from AWP

We presented the top 20 esports athletes in CS:GO of 2022. You can read more about it here.

#5. Mathieu ZywOo Herbaut

Unsurprisingly, Team Vitality's sniper ZywOo opens the top. Unfortunately, for the French player and the team, 2022 turned out to be far from the best year. We could see the real ZywOo only at ESL Pro League Season 16. Vitality won the only trophy of the year and added a spoonful of honey to the barrel of tar. Herbaut became the MVP and the key to success during the tournament.

Despite the problematic year, ZywOo demonstrated quite a good performance with AWP. He averaged 0.311 kills per round and dealt 27.9 damage. Also, based on the results of the past 12 months, Erbo has the highest individual rating on the professional scene — 6.8. However, these achievements are not enough to become the best sniper of 2022.

#4. Olexander s1mple Kostyliev

The fourth place in our top AWP players was taken by s1mple. Yes, only the fourth. The very mediocre state of affairs of Kostylev and Natus Vincere is very easily explained by the stressful situation associated with the full-scale invasion of Russia on the territory of Ukraine, which occurred right in the middle of IEM Katowice 2022. As a result, the team from Ukraine took only 3-4th place in the championship. This was followed by the exclusion of Kirill Boombl4 Mikhailov from the team, Denis electroNic Sharipov becoming the new team captain, and eight months of playing with Viktor sdy Orudjev as a stand-in...

As for s1mple's performance, success was variable here as well. The Ukrainian esports athlete became MVP twice: at BLAST Premier Spring Finals 2022 and IEM Cologne 2022. Statistics with a sniper rifle are slightly better than the previous top player: 0.345 average number of kills and 31.32 average damage per round with AWP. However, due to external psychological influences, Kostyliev showed a significant decline in playing form by the end of the year: he became the slowest sniper in BLAST Premier: Fall Final 2022.

#3. Helvijs broky Saukants

The representative of FaZe Clan broky was placed in third place. The Latvian sniper and the team demonstrated a stable game for 12 months, with a slight decline in summer. Saukants and Faze farmed the competitions in which they participated in the first half of 2022. They had no equal. The victory at PGL Major Antwerp 2022 is a great indicator. Also, the team is as close as possible to win in the fourth season of the Intel Grand Slam.

When playing with AWP, broky averaged 0.352 kills and dealt 31.73 damage per round. These indicators and an individual rating of 6.4 were enough to overcome competitors of ZywOo and s1mple. So yes, the advantage is not significant, but the advantage is an advantage in any case.

#2. Dmitry sh1ro Sokolov

Cloud9's sniper sh1ro took the second position at the top. Despite having a less productive year in terms of trophies, Sokolov consistently demonstrated the highest level of performance in CS. Throughout all 12 months, he stood out among the C9 players. Sh1ro got some pretty impressive stats, with an average kill per round of 0.412 and an average damage per round of 37.81. Only the winner of our top showed a better performance.

#1. Ilya m0NESY Osipov

According to Cover.gg, m0NESY, a debutant of the tier-1 scene and a graduate of the NAVI Academy, took first place at the top of CS:GO snipers of 2022. Osipov began to show a confident performance from the first matches at the highest level and continued to demonstrate it throughout the year. Despite G2 Esports' lineup changes throughout the season, m0NESY led the team to victory at BLAST Premier: World Final 2022. This victory gave fans hope for a bright team's future in 2023.

Osipov put maximum emphasis on the game with a sniper rifle, which allowed him to lead this top: 0.421 average number of kills and 37.96 average damage with AWP per round. Achieving such indicators during the first year in the tier-1 stage is enormous. Various esports figures are already predicting that m0NESY will continue to be among the best players in the world.

Athletes who prefer playing with a sniper rifle generate the most beautiful highlights and demonstrate the maximum level of concentration and understanding of the game. This role is probably the most difficult in CS:GO.
