Organizers announce schedule for first matches of VCT 2024: Masters Shanghai

The second major tournament of 2024, Masters Shanghai, will begin in just 9 days. Following the recent determination of all tournament participants, the organizers have announced the schedule for the first two days of play, which will open the event in China, on their official social media channels.

It is worth noting that in the upcoming tournament, Riot Games will introduce the Swiss system, which has long been proposed by professional players and media figures in Valorant. Thus, the group stage of Masters Shanghai will be held in the Swiss format, in which 8 teams that placed 2nd and 3rd in their regions will compete in matches up to 3 wins. As a result, teams that earn 2 wins will advance to the playoffs, while those that lose twice will leave the tournament.

It should be noted that of the total 12 participants in the tournament, only 8 teams will compete in the group stage. Meanwhile, the playoff stage will already feature 4 of the best teams from each region: Fnatic from EMEA, Paper Rex from Pacific, 100Thieves from Americas, and EDward Gaming from China. They secured their places in the playoffs thanks to their victories in the first stage of VCT 2024: Stage 1, in their regions.

VCT 2024: Masters Shanghai will be held from May 23 to June 9 in LAN format in Shanghai, at Valo Arena and Mercedes-Benz Arena. The 12 best teams, 3 from each competitive region of Valorant, will compete for spots in the upcoming world championship, as well as for a large prize pool, the size of which has not yet been disclosed.
