"Tier-2 Valorant scene is terrible" - Belyaks1 leaves RIZON and ends professional career

The competitive Valorant scene continues to lose young promising players. Recently, it was revealed that 20-year-old Latvian esports athlete Raio "Belyaks1" Dansbergs is leaving his last team, RIZON, and also ending his Valorant esports career.

Raio announced this decision on his official social media platforms. In his farewell, the player also criticized the Tier-2 and Tier-3 Valorant scene, stating that Riot Games has done a "terrible" job in its formation. Belyaks1 asserts that it's hard for Tier-2 players to develop due to which fixed matches arise, potentially offering greater rewards than tournament prizes and payments from organizations.

To be brief, after the last game against Attax I made the decision to retire. It was undoubtedly fun, and fun was the only reason to stay in the scene so long. I also wanted to note that Riot did a terrible job with the Tier-2 scene. Honestly, since a low-level T2/T3 player only gains advantage from other teams just to then know who will win against each other, and to bet on it. It's also worth mentioning fixed matches, this is becoming a bigger issue as the T2 scene stays as it is.

Raio "Belyaks1" Dansbergs began his journey in Valorant towards the end of 2021. Most of his career was spent in lesser-known Tier-3 teams, but in 2022, he managed to break into the Tier-2 scene. His last club was the German RIZON, with which he played only one tournament - VALORANT Challengers 2024 DACH: Evolution Split 1, where he finished in 10th place.

It should be noted that Belyaks1 is not the first to criticize the Tier-2 Valorant scene, but so far, no changes have been made. Perhaps in time, when the in-game Premier mode is fully integrated into the Valorant esports scene, the situation will improve.
