As 2023 slowly but surely approaches its end, while everyone is resting and our screens are not filled with tournaments, the team at bo3.gg is preparing their annual Christmas review. Today we present to you the best snipers in Counter-Strike for the outgoing year of 2023.
Understanding the Role of a Sniper
The role of a sniper in a Counter-Strike team is arguably one of the most important. A sniper can occupy any position on the map and create space for the team. It's worth noting that the role of a sniper is equally important for both terrorists and counter-terrorists.
It's important to highlight that there are passive and active snipers. A passive sniper may spend an entire round in one position, while an active one will seek kills across the entire map geometry.
Methodology
In order to compile a proper top of the best snipers for 2023, we sorted all the snipers of this year by their skill with AWP. For this purpose, we took only S-Teer tournaments and also took into account the number of maps that each sniper played during the year.
After that we sorted the list of players by overpowered frags, by overall rating, as well as ADR and KPR. The list we obtained displays the most accurate picture of the best snipers of 2023. The full list of S-Teer competition in 2023 is available at the following link.
#10 - Rafael "saffee" Costa (MIBR)
Our top opens with MIBR sniper Rafael "saffee" Costa, whose ADR for 2023 was 31.41. This year, he managed to play for two Brazilian organizations, namely FURIA and MIBR, but true results were achieved with MIBR. Along with them, he secured several 3-4th places and won XL Games 2023.
saffee's KPR in 2023 reached a mark of 0.344.
#9 - Aleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev (Natus Vincere)
Strangely enough, s1mple is only in 9th place in our top. His KPR with the sniper rifle was 0.316, and the ADR was 29.05. It's worth noting that in 2023, the team Natus Vincere underwent the most challenging changes in their lineup, which led to disappointing results for s1mple.
The only noteworthy result for Alexander was a second place at ESL Pro League Season 18 and two 3-4th places earlier this year.
As of October, and to this day, the player is on vacation, but who knows, maybe after the rest, everything will return to normal, and s1mple will tear apart tier-1 teams in 2024?
#8 - Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo (FURIA)
Legendary Brazilian sniper Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo occupies the next spot in our top best snipers of 2023. In the past year, he achieved good results with both Imperial Esports and FURIA. Moreover, with him, FURIA won their first major LAN championship in their history - Elisa Masters Espoo 2023.
This year, FalleN's ADR with AWP was 33.19, and his KPR was 0.371.
#7 - Abdulhalik "degster" Gasanov
However, after the first half of the year, he left OG and has not found a new home yet, so it's difficult to highlight any significant achievements this past year.
#6 - Alvaro "SunPayus" Garcia (Team Falcons)
Alvaro "SunPayus" Garcia takes the sixth place in our ranking of the best snipers for 2023. Practically the entire year he spent in ENCE and only at the end moved to Team Falcons. He has not yet had a chance to play a match for them. This year his ADR with AWP was 31.54, and his KPR was 0.352.
In 2023, SunPayus tried his best to lift ENCE from the ashes, including the team's victory at Intel Extreme Masters Dallas 2023 and three consecutive second-place finishes at the end of the CS:GO era.
#5 - Dmitry "sh1ro" Sokolov (Team Spirit)
In 2023, along with Cloud9, Dmitry managed to win an important trophy for the team - BLAST Premier: Fall European Showdown 2023.
sh1ro's ADR with AWP for 2023 was 35.32, and his KPR was 0.395.
#4 - Djami"Jame" Ali (Virtus.pro)
Djami"Jame" Ali, better known as "Jesus," ranks fourth in our top best snipers of 2023. His AWP playstyle stands out from the rest; you'll never meet a sniper as meticulous and effective as him.
2023 was an energetic year for Jame, especially after the release of Counter-Strike 2, where he and Virtus.pro managed to win two tournaments. Jame's average ADR with the AWP was 35.36, and his KPR was 0.399.
#3 - Adam "torzsi" Torzsas (MOUZ)
Notably, his performance contributed to the team's victory in the last CS:GO tournament - ESL Pro League Season 18. His KPR with the AWP was 0.381.
#2 - Nikolai "dev1ce" Reedtz (Astralis)
Legendary Danish sniper Nikolai "dev1ce" Reedtz, who has etched his name in Counter-Strike history, ranks second in our rating. In 2023, dev1ce, as always, showed an impressive level of play, with an ADR of 34.34 and a KPR of 0.38 with the AWP.
#1 - Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov (G2 Esports)
The young talent from G2 Esports, Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov, holds the second place in our top snipers for 2023. m0NESY displayed incredible skill with the AWP throughout the year, often leaving viewers and commentators baffled by his flick shots.
In 2023, he managed to lift two major trophies with the team - Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2023 and Intel Extreme Masters Cologne 2023, making it a quite successful year for the team.
m0NESY's ADR with the AWP for 2023 was 35.1, and his KPR was 0.383.
It's worth noting that m0NESY has won Sniper of the Year for the second year in a row.
