"I believe we can be in Spodek" - NertZ is confident that Heroic will make it to the LAN portion of IEM Katowice 2024

In his latest interview, the rifler of the Heroic team, Guy "NertZ" Iluz, talked about his feelings regarding the team's new lineup. He also touched on some of his past confrontations.

Especially for our readers, we have compiled the most important parts of the interview in a convenient format for you.

The first question the player answered was related to the recent BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2024, where the team finished last, losing all their matches.

He also discussed the team's victory over Astralis at IEM Katowice 2024:

"It's a bit sad to say, but at BLAST I didn't feel the tournament atmosphere; it felt more like a qualifier for an event. When I arrived here in Katowice, I finally felt that excitement. Of course, when I saw that the Danish players in my team wanted to win, I wanted to do everything possible to win. I think we had a really good game plan. I think this is the third match in the booth we play, and we didn't have much control outside the game, I would say, like communication in TeamSpeak. But we are learning from game to game."

Next, the player was asked: How has it been going with Heroic so far? You just mentioned that you spent a month at bootcamp. It was a lot of work for you. You had to go through open and closed qualifiers. You had some problems there, but could that be expected, given that it's a completely new team?

"We didn't set goals for this IEM Katowice. We just wanted to make sure we didn't lose ourselves and our minds. We want to continue playing as we do in practice, and we are working on that. I see that we are moving in the right direction. I would say, maybe it's deceptive thinking, but I believe we can be in Spodek. I don't think we had difficulties in online qualifiers. We spent more than a month in a training camp since the beginning of January, and it's really hard, let's be honest. When you are far away and don't see your friends and family, it's a bit hard, but we are working on it. Open qualifiers went smoothly, in my opinion, closed ones too. BLAST was unsuccessful. Here, I hope, it will be good."

And finally, he talked about how he sees the team's development going forward and how quickly they can establish themselves at the tier-1 level:

"I believe that we are playing better and better with each game. The first game was against Cloud9, we just played poorly, to be honest. Against BIG you saw some good CS, but still, it was not enough, and now against Astralis, I think they are a really good team, and we played really well against them. From game to game, I believe we will play better and better. That's why I believe we can be in Spodek."

At the moment, the team is participating in IEM Katowice 2024 and is already one match away from reaching the main stage of the championship. You can read more about the championship here.
