MAD Lions sweep FPX, to the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown

Eight teams clashed at the Fantasyexpo EU Champions Fall 2021, as winning the event would give tickets to the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown, instead of relying on a potential last minute invite.

FunPlus Phoenix looked to be the favourite of the event, despite narrowly losing their opener to Illuminar Gaming, as the European mix still advanced to the semifinals and then took out DBL PONEY in a three map affair. However, there was another team in the group, which managed to peak at the right time, as “kuben”’s MAD Lions ran the table in both group A and semifinals against Sprout and then trounced FPX themselves in the finals, sweeping the event without dropping a single map.

Now MAD Lions will likely break into the top-40 of the world rankings and participate at the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown, while FunPlus Phoenix are going to prepare for the IEM Fall to guarantee themselves their first berth at the Major as an organisation.
