Replacements At EG: Potential Management Success Or Failure?

Replacements At EG: Potential Management Success Or Failure?

Will the new line-up work?

Evil Geniuses completely failed the first half of the season after a roster rebuild. The team didn't make it to the major, and took last places in the rest of the events. After such results, it was decided to rebuild the roster again. Two players were replaced, as well as the coach of the team. But will these changes help the club?

Previous squad

Not only the results of the previous squad were at a low level. In addition, the individual performance of the performers left much to be desired. The captain was especially bad. Previously, this would not have been a problem in CS: GO. It was accepted that individual play was not the main task of the captain. However, things have changed a lot in the last six months. ElectroNic and hampus have already shown that the captain can play at a high level, and this is transforming the team. The same can be said about karrigan in individual games. However, the same could not be said about Stewie2K. The captain of Evil Geniuses rarely went to 1 KD, and his average rating for half a year was 5.4, given that the team rarely faced tier-1 teams in the first half of the season. Stewie2K became the first contender for a replacement. RUSH was also replaced with a 5.6 rating. However, the management decided to change not only the players but also the coach, maLeK left the team. This decision suggests that the club is again ready to rebuild the roster.

New players

Stewie2K was replaced by neaLaN, and this replacement is already a very non-standard solution. The Kazakh has not played in English-speaking teams before, which can significantly complicate the captaincy. However, looking at the statistics, you can see that neaLaN outperforms Stewie2K in almost every way. Of course, we must not forget that neaLaN mostly played on the tier-2 stage, and his results can drop when moving to a higher level. But this is not as important as the language in which the new captain will manage the team. And this question can be considered from two sides. On the one hand, it will be difficult for neaLaN to change the language, but on the other hand, there are no captains left in North America, and the decision to sign neaLaN can save the team.

HexT was chosen as a replacement for RUSH. The player previously played for Carpe Diem, who EG signed in June. Again, HexT is superior to RUSH in every way. However HexT has never performed on a big stage, which may prevent him from playing at the same level. This replacement already looks standard. Still, EG has 15 players in its asset, and it would be strange not to use this when rebuilding the main roster.

New composition

The result is a team with good firepower. After returning from Valorant, Autimatic began to show an excellent individual game, Brehze and CeRq remained at the same level, this backbone was strengthened by neaLaN and HexT, who showed excellent play on the tier-2 scene. On paper, EG have a top five shooters. However, not only shooting wins championships. The training process and tactics are also important. Vorborg became the coach of the team, which was the most controversial decision in the restructuring of the team. Vorborg is known for coaching the Copenhagen Flames and taking a team of young Danes to the playoffs of a major, which is by far the highest achievement. However, an essential factor in this is that he coached a mono-national young shooting range-2 team, with whom he spoke the same language. And now Vorborg will have to rebuild, join a team of older players and do the same, which is impossible even now.

Conclusion

On paper, the team looks like an excellent five of strong shooters, which, of course, can lead the team to success. However, after this restructuring, EG has ceased to be a North American team but has become an international mix, which can damage not only communication, but also preparation. And this can lead to a total failure of the new roster.
